RRB ALP Recruitment 2024 Exam Pattern & Syllabus

The Railway Recruitment Board(RRB) has released an official notification for the recruitment of ALP posts. There are 5696 vacancies. Candidates have to clear several stages to be recruited. Aspirants can check this article to learn more about the RRB exam pattern and syllabus for apprentices. The last date to apply for RRB Recruitment is 19.02.2024.

Selection Process

The recruitment process for RRB Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) consists of the following stages

  1. First Stage CBT (CBT – 1)
  2. Second Stage CBT (CBT – 2)
  3. Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)
  4. Document Verification (DV)
  5. Medical Examination (ME)
  6. Final Selection – Merit List 

First Stage CBT (CBT – 1) 

  • CBT-1 is only a screening stage for shortlisting candidates for the next level i.e. CBT-2.
  • Marks scored in CBT – 1 are not considered for the Final selection panel.

First Stage CBT (CBT – 1) Exam pattern

  • The CBT-1 consists of Objective multiple-choice Choice Questions (MCQs) for 75 marks from 75 questions.
  • The test duration is 60 minutes (1 hour).
  • A negative mark of 1/3 marks for each wrong answer is applicable.
  • The eligibility pass percentage for each category is given below
    UR&EWS – 40%

OBC (NCL) – 30%

SC – 30%

ST – 25%

Second Stage CBT (CBT – 2) 

  • CBT – 2 consists of two parts i.e Part A and Part B. 
  • The total duration of the CBT-2 is 2 hours 30 minutes.
  • It consists of 175 questions for 175 marks.

Second Stage CBT (CBT – 2) Exam pattern

  • Part A consists of 100 questions and Part B consists of 75 questions.
  • A negative mark of 1/3 marks for each wrong answer is applicable.
  • The eligibility pass percentage of Part A for each category is given below
    UR&EWS – 40%

OBC (NCL) – 30%

SC – 30%

ST – 25%

  • The eligibility pass percentage for Part B is 35% for all candidates.
  • The marks scored in Part A will be counted for the shortlisting of candidates for the CBAT, whereas marks scored in Part B are only for eligibility.

Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)

  • Candidates equal to 8 times the no. of Assitant Loco Pilot will be shortlisted for CBAT.
  • Candidates must submit their Vision Certificate while appearing for CBAT, is not candidates will not allowed to take CBAT.
  • Candidates have to secure a minimum T score of 42 marks in each section/battery separately for qualifying CBAT.

Final Selection 

  • The final selection will be based on the merit list prepared in descending order of marks obtained in Part A of CBT 2 and CBAT.
  • For the final score 70% weightage is given for Part A of CBT 2 marks and 30% weightage is given for CBAT marks.
  • Candidates, in the order of merit, will be offered the post after document Verification.
