NICL Recruitment 2024 Exam Pattern & Syllabus

The National Insurance Company Ltd (NICL) released an official notification for the recruitment of Doctors (MBBS), Legal, Finance, Actuarial, Information Technology, Automobile Engineering, Generalist Officers, Hindi (Rajbhasha) Officers posts. There are 274 vacancies. Candidates can get their postings by clearing the examination. Aspirants can check this article to learn more about the exam pattern and syllabus. Phase – I: Preliminary Examination online (except for Hindi Officers)

  • Preliminary examination consists of objective type questions for 100 marks.
  • Candidates must qualify in each test/section by securing passing marks to be decided by the Company.
  • 1/4th of the mark will be deducted as a penalty for each wrong answer.

Phase – II: Main Examination online (except for Hindi Officers)

  • Main Examination will consist of Objective Tests (Multiple Choice type Questions) for 250 marks and Descriptive Test for 30 Marks.

Objective Test for  Generalists

  • Candidates will be required to obtain a minimum score for each section separately of the objective test for shortlisting for the Descriptive Test evaluation.
  • 1/4th of the mark will be deducted as a penalty for each wrong answer.
  • Duration of objective test for Generalists post is 3 hours.

Descriptive Test for Generalists and Specialists

  • Medium of exam for descriptive test is English.
  • This test will also be conducted online following the objective test.
  • The descriptive answer script would be evaluated only in respect of those candidates who qualify for the objective test. 
  • There will also be a separate cut-off mark for the Descriptive Test. 
  • The Descriptive test will be qualifying in nature and the marks scored in the Descriptive test will not be counted towards shortlisting for interview or final selection.

Online Written Examination for Hindi Officers

  • Online Written Examination for Hindi Officers will consist of Objective Tests (Multiple Choice type Questions) for 200 marks and Descriptive Test for 50 Marks.
  • This test will be conducted in a single phase.
  • Duration of objective test for Specialists post is 3 hours and 30 minutes.
  • 1/4th of the mark will be deducted as a penalty for each wrong answer in objective-type questions.

  • The Descriptive Test of Hindi Language will be conducted only through online mode.
  • For Hindi typing, the candidates should have knowledge of the following keyboard layout: i. Inscript ii. Remington (GAIL).
  • Each candidate will be required to obtain a minimum score for each section separately to be eligible for shortlisting for the interview.

Interview

  • Generalist & Specialist Candidates who have been shortlisted based on online Phase – II (Mains Examination) will be called for an Interview.
  • Hindi (Rajbhasha) Candidates who have been shortlisted based on the online written examination will subsequently be called for an Interview 
  • The Interview will be conducted at select centres. 
  • The centre, address of the venue, time & date of the Interview will be informed to the shortlisted candidates in the call letter. 
  • Candidates are required to download their interview call letters from the company’s website.

Final Selection

  • The combined final score of candidates shall be arrived at on the basis of scores obtained by the candidates in the online Main Examination (Objective test) and Interview. 
  • The weightage (ratio) of the online Main Examination and Interview will be 80:20 respectively.
  •  The final merit list shall be prepared in descending order of the consolidated marks secured by the candidates.
  •  A candidate should be sufficiently high in merit to be shortlisted for the subsequent recruitment process, details of which will be made available subsequently on the Company’s website.
